Shadowland | with Lukas Marxt | 45:00min | 2016

Shadowland  in an experimental film with a documentary approach which explores impact of the solar eclipse on inhabitants of the Faroe Islands during the Total Eclipse of the Sun on the 20th of March, 2015.
The film goes beyond the usual media excitement and visual documentation of the ‘corona’, and explores people’s relations to this cosmic event.

By appropriating the term “shadowland”, a spatiotemporal space when Sun is fully eclipsed, the film depicts the variety of rituals people perform in order to engage with this cosmic event of monumental proportions. In the film Shadowland, the Sun eclipse is contextualised as a symbolic crisis of human existence, and is seen as a liminal space.
